2021 Has Entered the Chat…

As I peek meekly around the corner of 2020 I step gingerly into a new year. Then about 6 days in, the US decided to fall face first into dog poop once again… sigh… okay.

As we dust ourselves off from “a year unlike any other” and move into another one-of-a-kind, there are SO MANY THINGS I need to update you on. But I may need to spread those out a bit so as not to overwhelm you.

So instead, I’ll use this quick post as a place to remind you of a couple of things:

Extended Work-from-Home or Learn-From-Home Situations are Difficult

No, you’re not failing yourself or your children. You’re definitely not doing anything wrong AND those on Instagram who are showing you exactly how to do-the-things also cry in their showers after hard days.

You Do Not Have to Come Out of this Pandemic with New Skills or Hobbies.

Simply surviving day-to-day is enough. You don’t have to all of a sudden be an artist, a writer, a singer, or a TikTok Star. What you must do is breathe, hug your children, and take care of yourself.

Self-Care is Non-Negotiable.

This one IS a must but it isn’t as difficult as it may sound.
I’m asking you to do three things each day:
1. Drink Water, no not a sip but an actual, healthy amount.
2. Take your meds and/or vitamins
3. Eat real food. Not the leftovers from toddler plates but food that you enjoy and that gives you time to pause and breathe.

Overall, I ask that you remember that simply existing as a human today is enough. You opened your eyes today and that’s all we ask of you. You don’t have to earn any stars, finish any huge milestone, or do something spectacular today to receive a high-five for being you. If you want to do any of those things, go for it, and post about it, and let us celebrate you fully. But if you have a down day, a down week, or a down pandemic - look for the light at the end of the tunnel. If you can’t find the light, call me. I’ve got a few stories that are sure to make you feel just a little bit better.

Hugs,
Meg
